Marina Bay Sands
Ever since getting to Singapore I have wanted to go up to the top of the Marina Bay Sands (MBS). Yesterday I got that chance and managed to avoid the $20 charge. Some friends from New Zealand were here on the last leg of their honeymoon and happened to be staying at the MBS. They also generously invited us up to the sky park.
Marina Bay Sands is an integrated resort that consists of a high-end mall, casino, hotel and museum. According to Wikipedia it is the most expensive standalone casino in the world. The top of the hotel has an amazing viewing platform and infinity pool, which is in the shape of a boat. It looks like a new school Noahs Ark happened to anchor on top of 3 identical buildings. The pool was so good I am going to call it an infinity times infinity pool. (∞ x ∞)
The newly weds had to go to some honeymoon dinner and let us roam free on the sky park with an expired key card. Guess who happened to have his togs and towel in his bag?
My SINGSERVATIONS #3
It appears as though emergency service vehicles don’t go through red lights here., even if they are on their way to an emergency. I saw a fire truck a week or so ago with lights and sirens blazing. Then the lights went red at a pedestrian crossing. So the courteous fire truck switches off its sirens and waits at the crossing with its lights flashing. It made for an awkward minute. You could see the firemen rushing to get there safety gear on but they were not getting any closer to their destination. I saw the same thing happen with an ambulance. It was very weird. I really hope there are no red lights on the way when I get bitten by a poisonous snake.
